It is with so much sadness that I report that a great friend of both the RFA Association and the RFA, Spencer Atkinson, has crossed the bar
Spencer, was nearly 53 when he died this week after a short battle with cancer. He was a Project Director at Cammell Laird running the RFA Cluster Contract for Fort Victoria, Wave Knight and Wave Ruler. His relationship with the RFA began in 2002 with the Argus PCRS conversion. He served a mechanical fitter apprenticeship with Seaforth Welding and had been in the RNR at HMS Eaglet for 12 years.
He was a very good friend of the RFA, and the RFAA, attending the Reunion regularly, his bubbly character and scouse sense of humour endearing him to everyone who met him.
He had only recently married his long-time partner Deryn
Spencer was a passionate Evertonian and played Polo at Cheshire Polo Club and Golf, often attending, and supporting the RFA Golf Tournament.
On behalf of the RFA Association I offer our sincere condolences to both his wife Deryn and all his family.
