THE RFA CHARITY ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT 2015

The 53rd annual RFA Charity Golf Tournament will be held at Waterlooville Golf Club, at Cowplain near Portsmouth PO8 8AP, on Thursday 2nd July. (HERE for their website and HERE for a Map)This year we have Cammell Laird as the main sponsor with ever generous support from Seaking Group, IPS UK Ltd, MLS Overseas Ltd and other sponsors who have donated prizes. With their help, the total cost for the day will be Forty Pounds; green fees will again be subsidised, lunch and prizes provided and wine for dinner will be inclusive in the price. We will intend to have a raffle and proceeds will go our registered charity the RFA Association.

The event is open to serving and retired Officers and Petty Officers, Ratings and Cadets who have previously competed in the event, or players who have not competed, are welcome with a golf handicap certificate. Members’ guests are welcome, however space is limited and the recommendation is a maximum of 2 guests on the day.

The permissible handicap for the competition is up to 24 for men and 30 for ladies; current handicap certificates for new participants will be required.

The programme for the day will be:

AM:                 Freeplay First 9 holes after 09.30

1125–1330:   Lunch

1145–1330:   Tee Off

1845:              Presentation of prizes

1930:              Dinner

Prizes will be awarded to the following categories:

The Cammell Laird Trophy to the best player in the Seagoing RFA personnel section.

Retired RFA personnel (Joe Dines Memorial Cup, (over aged 50)

HQ staff and shore based RFA personnel.

Male guests.

Wives & lady guests.

As in previous years there will be a Two’s Competition. There will be other prizes announced on the day, which will include the Longest Drive Trophy, sponsored by MLS Overseas Ltd. These may be entered for and paid for on the day, at a cost of two pounds per person.

Addressees are requested to ensure a wide distribution and if you have any questions, please contact First Officer Roger Cox (Rtd) * who will be coordinating this years event. Please be prompt in booking as we expect considerable interest in this occasion and at this value for money.

Rules on dress and etiquette remain unchanged, re Club Website. Please ensure you park in the rear car park and also note that the use of mobile phones is prohibited throughout.
