It is with so much sadness that I report that Jack Irvine who many will remember as a long serving SWO in the LSLs crossed the bar last week aged 76, just 12 days short of his 77th birthday.
Jack was not a member of the Association but after his retirement from the Royal Corps of Transport in 1980 he maintained a long friendship with Captain(E) David Bass.
Jack’s funeral will be held at Fawley Church (HERE for their website and HERE for a map) on Monday 15th December at 13:30 followed by interrment in Fawley Churchyard and afterwards at the Falcon Inn (HERE for their website and HERE for a map)
The family welcomes flowers in Jack’s memory and donations if desired should be made to the Royal British Legion.
The funeral arrangements are being made by Hallums in Holbury (HERE for their website and HERE for a map).
On behalf of the RFA Association I extend our sincere condolences to all his family.
Do any of our members remember Jack and what he did in our ships? If you do, or have any remembrances of Jack please email me at deputy.chairman@rfaa.uk and I will post it to this page. Also does anybody have a photograph of him for the page and RFAA Archive? If you do please email it to me.
