It is with much sadness that I report that former RFA Motorman James (Jimmy) Harris (not a member but part of our RFA family) was killed in a hit and run accident near his home in Taynuilt (Argyll and Bute) on Sunday 10th October 2021. He was just 61. A 24 year old man has been arrested in connection with this dreadful incident. Follow this link for the report in the Herald Newspaper. https://www.heraldscotland.com/…/19639459.a85-taynuilt…/
Given the circumstances of Jimmy’s death, the need for an autopsy (Tuesday 26th October) and Inquest, a funeral will not be held until early November (at the earliest). It is planned that the funeral will be held at Muckairn Church (HERE for their website and HERE for a map) followed by interment. I will sitrep this page accordingly as more information becomes available.
On behalf of the RFA Association I offer our sincere condolences to his widow, Andrea, their (grown up) children Stewart and Lauren and two grandchildren
If you have any remembrances of Jimmy please email it to me at captain.pat@rfaa.uk and I will post them on this page. Alternatively you can post to our facebook page “RFA Crossed the Bar”. I am also looking for photographs of Jimmy for this piece and the RFA Association Gallery and Archive, if you have one please email it to me.
