ANN COOMBS, CROSSED THE BAR.

Crossed the Bar

It is with so much sadness that I report that Ann Combs, member number 0128 from the Solent Branch has, after a short illness, crossed the bar.

Ann’s daughter Lynn Saunders writes:-

I regret to inform you of the death of my mother, Ann Coombs on 16th February.  Both my parents would tell me about the various functions they attended and enjoyed the time they spent with the RFA retirement section.  They were extremely proud to represent the Association at one of HM Queen Elizabeth’s annual garden party.   However  as my Dad’s Alzheimers progressed attending functions became harder and when Mum was also taken ill in 2014 they were no longer able  to attend.

Mum had been in hospital for 5 months last year and on discharge found she could not live on her own so went to Heathmount Care Home on the same complex as Dad.  This allowed them to see each other whenever possible.  Unfortunately this year Mum developed Jaundice and was readmitted to hospital where they discovered she had cancer and it had progressed too far for treatment.  She died 2 weeks later.  Her funeral will be held at the Wessex Vale Crematorium (HERE for the website and HERE for a map) on Monday 7th March 2016 at 11.30.  All are welcome.  We have chosen not to have flowers but donations are welcome to The Alzheimers Society c/o The Co-Operative funeral care service, 3 Lower Mead, Hillbrow Road, Liss, GU33 7RL (HERE for the website and HERE for a map) or by the following Justgiving page http://www.justgiving.com/Ann-Coombs

Dad (John Coombs) moved into permanent care in January 2015 and now resides at Copper Beeches Nursing Home, London Road, Rake, Liss (HERE for the website and HERE for a map).  He now has advanced Alzheimers and unfortunately is not well enough to attend the funeral.
On behalf of the RFA Association I wish all her family our sincere condolences.

If you have any remembrances of Ann please email it to me at deputy.chairman@rfaa.uk and I will post them on this page. I am also looking for photographs of Ann for this piece and the RFA Association Gallery and Archive, If you have one please email it to me.
