STEVE BROWN STO(N), CROSSED THE BAR/ SITREP 1 (179)

Crossed the Bar

It is with much sadness that I pass on the news received from Adam Bryce and Pete Yemen that STO(N) Steve brown crossed the bar. If I obtain any further information I will post a sitrep as usual.

Pete Yemen and Adam Bryce have passed on the sad news that Steve Brown died last Saturday from Lung Cancer.  Steve spent much of his career in the Royal Fleet Auxilliary’s Stonnery departments.  His first time afloat was with Pete Yemen in RFA Fort Grange way back in 1978 when she was fitting out.  His responsibilities there were to operate the Naval Store and Air Stores manual account of some 30000 items.  Just think of all those ledgers!  He spent other time in Branch 32 during the Falklands conflict before working in the Armaments world, eventually in a charge role at Ernesettle as a C1 (SEO).  He finished his career back at sea, this time as the STO(N) on Fort Rosalie from where he retired about one year ago.

His funeral will take place on Tuesday 10th March at 11.00 am at Weston Mill Crematorium, Plymouth (Look HERE for the website and HERE for a map). There will be a reception after the service and details can be found on the back of the Order of Service.

Family flowers only please but donations in lieu may be made to St Luke’s Hospice (HERE for the website and HERE for a map)

The funeral arrangements are being made by the Co-op Funeral Service, 72 Pomphlett Road, Plymstock, Plymouth, PL9 7BN (HERE for their website which contains a map)

On behalf of the RFA Association I offer our sincere condolences to all his family.
