RICHARD I BISSETT, CROSSED THE BAR.

Crossed the Bar

It is with so much sadness that I report that Richard Ian Bissett crossed the bar recently aged just 54, and that his funeral was held on the 18th August 2014.

Richard was not a member of the Association and little is known about him by us or his seafaring career in the RFA by his family.

The picture on the left shows him at a presentation in RFA Fort Grange with Captain Derek Yeomans who believes the event could be a medal presentation.

On behalf of the RFA Association I extend our sincere condolences to all his family.

Richard retired from the RFA in 2002, his brother has sent us a scan of the letter from Cdre Peter Lannin on his retirement thanking him for his 21 years of service

The first we heard of Richard’s passing was a cheque for £30 from, Bruce Carter and Son Funeral Directors, the result of a collection made at the funeral. Richard had asked that the money collected was paid to the RFA Association and we are very grateful for that donation

Do any of our members remember Richard and what he did in our ships? If you do, or have any remembrances of Richard please email me at deputy.chairman@rfaa.uk and I will post it to this page.
