I have received the following email from Dennis (known as Jack) Poole:-
Many thanks for your reply on Ships Nostalgia re trying to contact Mike Brodie. Please make allowance for a rapidly fading memory. I met Mike in the very late 1960’s, when we worked as engineers for Bowker & King , who contracted for BP on small coastal tankers out of Avonmouth.
Mike had been a junior engineer on BP (Tree class) tankers & previous to that, a junior engineer on RFA Pearleaf.(joined maybe circa 1964). He eventually joined Bowkers to be nearer his home at St. Briavels in the Forest of Dean. Obviously he would only have served appx 3 years in the RFA, so this is a long shot. He often came to stay with me & my family in Cheltenham & he must be about 78 years old now.
Thank you Pat for trying to help, it is much appreciated. I am using my son’s email address.
Best Regards
Dennis (known as Jack) Poole
Are you out there Mike or does anybody know your whereabouts. If you do please email me at mob@rfaa.uk. All the usual confidentiality rules apply of course.
