Crossed the Bar

I have received an email today 21.July 2014 from COMRFA HQ that former CR1 Joanne Smart  tragically died today following injuries sustained in a car crash. She was just 36 years old.

Joanne joined the RFA in Feb 2000 and served on the following Ships:

Sir Bedivere

Black Rover

Fort Rosalie

Oakleaf

Fort Austin

Gold Rover

Argus

Orangeleaf

Joanne left the RFA in 2007 but continued stayed in touch with us all and will be deeply missed.

On behalf of the RFA Association I extend our sincere condolences to Joanne’s Mother, Barbara Richardson, Step Father, Glen Richardson, sister Laura  and all her family.

I have spoke to Joanne’s family who have given me details of the funeral arrangements.

The funeral will take place at St John’s Church, Seaham Harhour, Co Durham, on Tuesday 5th August 2014 at 13:00 (HERE for their website and HERE for a map) and will be followed by cremation at Durham Crematorium (HERE for their website and HERE for a map) at 14:00. Afterwards at the Marlborough Arms Seaham (HERE for their website and HERE for a map).

The funeral arrangements are being made by Kenneth Taylor Funeral Directors of Seaham, (HERE for their website and HERE for a map).
