RFA Fort George Bows out
After an 18 year, and very sucessful career, RFA Fort George sets off on her final voyage to that “Big RAS Corridor in the Sky” under tow from Christos XX111 to the knackers yard in Aliaga, Turkey where so many of her fleetmates have so recently gone before.
This evocative picture of her passing Perch Rock Lighthouse en route to her date with a gas axe is reproduced here by kind permission of A Faulkner of http://www.shipsofthemersey.me.uk There are more pictures of this sad event in the RFA Association Gallery HERE.

There was a time, some of our older members may recall, when it was planned that we would get 11 AORs, ultimately we got 2 and one of them, Fort George, was pensioned off long before her time.
