I have to report the sad death of Charles (Charlie) Runkee (0045) on 1st January 2024. His funeral is on 30th January at 1.15pm at Huddersfield crematorium and is being managed by Radcliffes Funeral Services of 16 Westgate, Honley, Holmfirth HD9 6AA.

Dad joined the RFA in c1966 as a junior engineer after 9 years in the Navy, and retired whilst still with the RFA in c1992 as Chief Engineer/“Captain (Engineering)”. I particularly remember him spending time on the Olna, (including the Falklands in 1982), and the Resource, along with several other “o boats” and “tideboats”. He joined the association after retiring and for the early years of his retirement he and my mother enjoyed attending annual dinners and other events.
