CAPTAIN ALWYN EVANS MN, CROSSED THE BAR.

Crossed the Bar

Mike Ainley has sent me this sad news.

Pat I write to let you know of the sad passing of Captain Alwyn Evans, MN.
Al, started his career at sea as a Deck Cadet when he joined the RFA Olmeda CTU of 1973.
After a dose of the Cod war the CTU transferred to Olwen and then Tarbatness.
After qualifying Al moved to the commercial world spending time with Silver Line, then Navigating the Great lakes, followed by time with Trinity House and finally as a Class 1 Pilot at Sunderland as well as the duties of a Deputy Harbour Master.
Recently he retired and moved back to the Canada which he clearly loved.
Unfortunately he passed away on the 23rd September 2014 and his ashes will be scattered this weekend at the Port of Sunderland where Al had worked for many years.
Deepest sympathies to his wife Grace and all his other family and friends.
Alwyn is seen here in a group photograph of the Olmeda CTU of 1973 behind the CTO, First Officer Peter Hill

If you have a remembrance of Alwyb please email it to me at deputy.chairman@rfaa.uk and I will post them on this page.
