Barrie Sawers SRO Crossed the Bar.

Crossed the Bar

It is my sad duty to relay the following message from Ingrid Sawers via the RFAA Chair:
“Barrie Stuart Sawers  (29.05.37 – 29.09.23)(RFAA Membership No 0083).
It is with great sadness that I inform you that my father, Barrie Sawers , crossed the bar on 29th September. He joined the RFA in 1959, and became a Senior Radio Officer (1st Officer Communications) and served until his retirement in 1995, most notably in RFA FORT GRANGE during the Falklands Conflict in 1982.
He maintained an interest in the activity of the RFA throughout his retirement, and also maintained a close friendship with some of his colleagues.
He was widowed in 2019 and is survived, and greatly missed, by his daughters Ingrid and Astrid, son-in-law Craig and grandson Christopher.
The funeral will be held at 10.00 Thursday 12th October at Darlington Crematorium.
