Crossed the Bar

It is with much sadness that I report that Third Engineer Officer Robert Brian Horn (always know as Brian) Crossed the Bar, aged 83, on 11th August 2018, Brian was not a member of our Association but was part of the RFA family.

Brian’s funeral will take place on Tuesday 11th September at 12:00 at St Mark’s Church, Woolston (HERE for their website and HERE for a map) followed by a private cremation.

Family flowers only but donations in lieu and if desired should be made to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HERE for their website )

The arrangements are being made by Jonathon Terry Funeral Directors (HERE for their website and HERE for a map) who will co-ordinate any donations.

Old shipmates and colleagues will be made most welcome to the service and will be invited to join the family afterwards for refreshments.

On behalf of the RFA Association I offer our sincere condolences to his wife Hazel, their sons, grandchildren and great-granchildren.

Brian, originally from Tynside, served his time as an apprentice at Wallsend Slipway and Engineering joining the RFA soon afterwards. He served mainly in the old Wave Class until he retired on medical grounds in 1965.
